30 Years of On Pitch Excellence – The Nike Tiempo
Ah, the unforgettable moment when the Nike Tiempo first graced the field at the 1994 World Cup!
It’s as vivid in our minds as if it happened yesterday. But then again, we’re absolutely smitten with boots, so it’s no surprise we remember it so fondly!
This sleek boot didn’t just step onto the scene – it danced its way into the spotlight! Its popularity skyrocketed in a heartbeat, and before we knew it, it was the star of the show at the 1994 final between Brazil and Italy.
Held at the iconic Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, this match saw the Tiempo adorning the feet of nearly half of the 22 players on the field. Now, if that’s not making a grand entrance, we don’t know what is!
Picture this: the Golden Ball winner Romario and Italy’s sensation Paolo Maldini, both sporting the Tiempo in the heat of the 1994 World Cup final. As the dust settled and Brazil emerged victorious after a nail-biting penalty shootout, it wasn’t just their playmaking that was etched into history. This was the moment that sparked the Tiempo revolution
As the years rolled on, the Tiempo became a trusted companion to football legends like Eric Cantona, Ian Wright, Ronaldinho, Cesc Fabregas, Francesco Totti, Sergio Ramos, Sergio Aguero, and so many more. (We could go on, but we wouldn’t want to overwhelm you with star power!)
Fast forward to 2024, and the Tiempo legacy is still going strong, three decades later. The Tiempo X Emerald is set to grace the feet of the next generation of football stars – Jamal Musiala, Pernille Harder, Frenkie De Jong, and Leah Williamson.
But wait, there’s more! You’re probably on the edge of your seat, wondering what’s new with the Tiempo. Well, hold onto your hats, because we’re about to dive right in!
Dark Atomic Teal/Sail Colourway
Complex colourways? Oh, we’re all over it! “Dark Atomic Teal” or “Sail” colourway, you ask? We were just as curious until we laid our eyes on the pictures…
Simply stunning. Nike have absolutely nailed it with their “Emerald” Tiempo X. In fact, we can hardly look away with how mesmerizing the gradient stitch-pattern is!
With Teal situated as the base colour of the upper, Nike adds white accents in bold contrast, with pops of pearlescent irridescence in a nod to the gift of a pearl given as a gift to mark a 30 year anniversary.
Gone is the subtle “Tiempo” branding traditionally placed on the boot’s collar. In its place Nike situates “X 2024” to commemorate the Tiempo’s legacy, all while emphasising how the X’s blueprint, which will guide the design of future Tiempo models throughout 2024.
Fly high with Fly-Touch Plus
The upper of the boot boasts Nike’s cutting-edge FlyTouch Plus technology, a feature that first made its appearance on the Tiempo 10 in July 2023.
This latest iteration from Nike isn’t just the lightest Tiempo yet, but it also holds the distinction of being 55 percent less water-retentive than its predecessor…
Now, isn’t that something to marvel at? Truly impressive!
Equiped with ACC Technology
Equipped with All Conditions Control (ACC) technology, the Tiempo ensures consistent ball control regardless of the weather. Its surface material is designed to maintain the same level of touch, control, and friction on the ball, whether in wet or dry conditions. This means you can expect the same high-quality performance from the Tiempo, rain or shine.
Moving to the soleplate, the gradient theme persists. The toe-box showcases a seamless transition from a vibrant turquoise green to a brilliant white, creating an effect that is flawless, and one embodying class.
