A Brief History of the Mercurial
Debuted by Ronaldo in 1998 for the World Cup in France, Nike’s second longest-serving silo marks its 25th anniversary, to pay homage to a long lineage of players who defied the laws of physics wearing the gravity-defying Mercurial football boot.
Originally intended to make its mark on the world as a lightweight addition to the Tiempo series, the Nike Mercurial paved the way beyond the Tiempo to become a speed silo in its own right.
Fashioned with Ronaldo‘s captivating velocity in mind, the Mercurial silo redefined the parameters previously imposed upon the design of football boots and how they perform out on the pitch.
